The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in downtown Bradenton is seeking a Director of Development to be responsible for the overall success of the Museum’s Annual Fund, grants program, donor engagement and recognition, and overall program effectiveness. The DOD supervises the Database Manager and reports to the Chief Community Engagement Officer. The DOD directs and administers all aspects of the Annual Fund and is highly involved in fundraising for capital projects - increasing annual donations, expanding the major gift pipeline, and enriching the donor experience.
Other areas of responsibility include: cultivation and stewardship plans, in-person solicitation, gift agreements, online giving, corporate support, donor recognition, reporting and evaluating program effectiveness, donor communications and grant management. The Director also works closely with Museum Trustees, the CEO, Chief Community Engagement Officer, and other staff to identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate support.
A Bachelor’s Degree, 3-5 years of experience in development and annual giving campaigns including gift solicitation and CRM/database experience are required. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment; works well as part of a team; is able to set priorities, manage multiple priorities simultaneously and follow through to completion of tasks; maintain a high level of confidentiality; is self-directing, proficient with Microsoft Office suite and has strong writing and speaking skills.
