Position: Director of Development
Supervisor: Executive Director/CEO
Young At Art Museum is seeking a strong fundraising professional to position the museum for continued success in corporate/foundation, membership, fundraising events and endowment building efforts. The Development Director will focus on increasing the donor base with assistance from the museum’s Board, Executive Director/CEO and Development Department staff, helping to build a culture of philanthropy at all levels. As part of the Museum Management Team, this professional will participate in institutional policy setting, fundraising implementation, fiscal oversight and relationship building, reporting directly to the Executive Director/CEO of the Museum.
Provide leadership at all levels to staff, volunteers and interns combined with hands-on management of the Development Department. The Director of Development will be expected to build his or her team to accomplish the annual and future capital fundraising goals.
Successfully participate in the Museum’s future capital campaign, under the guidance and in association with the Museum’s Executive Director/CEO, Board members, Campaign Cabinet and an outside consultant.
Successfully, manage and direct the Museum’s annual fundraising efforts, meeting the Museum’s budgetary goals from the various constituent pools. Provide guidance and direction to staff and volunteers to assist in the daily activities of these efforts.
Oversee all fundraising activities including proposal writing, prospect identification, database management/wealth screening, cultivation efforts, solicitations, gift acknowledgement and donor/sponsor recognition.
Work in concert with the Executive Director/CEO and Board members in increasing the Museum’s profile in the community including attending key events, meetings, and networking socials.
Provide professional direction and support to Board of Directors’ Development Committee and related Task Forces and Committees. Organize Trustee orientation and assist the Executive Director/CEO with Board meetings and other activities as requested. Actively participate in Board retreats, orientations, cultivation tours, solicitations, and related activities.
Proven leadership in major gifts fundraising, including the management of staff and volunteers
Tangible experience in building the donor base with various constituent groups
Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage the interest of prospective major donors and initiating follow-up strategies
Prior experience in capital campaigns a plus
Bachelor degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
CFRE or equivalent certification/experience required.
Knowledge of South Florida funders, donors, and media representatives are a plus.
A minimum of seven (7) years of proven fundraising experience as well as management of professional staff is required.
