SUMMARY:  Responsible for ensuring the Museum’s exhibits are safe, operational, educational, interactive and fun.  Must be capable of conceptualizing, designing, engineering, prototyping, fabricating, and evaluating new exhibits. Will lead the team in maintaining, repairing and refurbishing existing exhibits and will participate in the installation and shipment of traveling exhibits. Will manage the Exhibits staff and take excellent care of the Museum’s permanent and traveling exhibits.

QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Bachelors degree in design, fabrication, project management or a related field.  At least ten years experience managing staff and working with exhibits, preferably in a Museum setting. Must have a wide range of building maintenance and fabrication skills.   Must be familiar with the exhibit design process including evaluation and prototyping.  Experience managing Collections and loan documents. Familiarity with manual hand tools, stationary or power tools, computers, software, audio/visual tools and equipment. Ability to work on or in exhibit structures with constrictive space or heights.  Availability to work on weekends, evenings and holidays is a must.  Need to be able to lift more then 50 lbs. and stand on your feet all day .  Ability to oversee and manage the entire traveling exhibits program.  This includes lifting heavy crates and exhibit structures.  Must be knowledgeable in mechanical, electrical, and technological systems. Forklift certified or ability to get certified. Familiarity with paints and other finishes.  Good organizational and delegation skills.
