Strategic Fundraising Development
Works with the Executive Director of the John and Mable Museum of Art, the FSU Foundation and the FSU John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art Development team to develop and execute strategic fundraising initiatives on behalf of the Museum, the University and the Foundation. Develops, coordinates and executes an annual advancement and communications plan of the Division, implementing fund-raising activities designed to meet an established monetary goal. Establishes new relationships resulting in philanthropic revenue, maintains existing relationships which may generate new philanthropic revenue, and provides prospect/donor-related assessments and feedback for the FSU Foundation. Identifies, qualifies and sustains a donor prospect portfolio with individuals who have a giving capacity of $100,000 or more. Secures gifts and pledges from alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends of FSU and the Ringling Museum. Exhibits and promotes a comprehensive understanding of the philanthropic priorities of the Ringling and the Foundation, effectively matching the specific interests of prospects to those specific needs. Effectively communicates organization’s mission and represents the organization’s culture to external stakeholders.
Supervises Foundation fundraising staff, to include monitoring performance metrics. Also supervises activities of Ringling Museum Membership Team, the Museum’s Grants Administrator, a dedicated Donor Database Administrator, and has a dotted line connection to the Ringling Marketing Manager. Manages the Development team to solicit Members and/or Annual Fund Contributors while establishing a cultivation strategy for increased giving. Serves as a member of the Museum’s executive management team and helps to shape the strategic direction of the Museum
Central Development Collaboration
Coordinates with central development staff and other cross-functional team members to identify prospects and develops team solicitation plans for planned giving, corporate and foundation relations and principal gifts.
Assists in the facilitation of meetings, communications, informational exchanges and project/philanthropic coordination with senior staff of the Museum, the faculty and faculty chairs utilizing Foundation and Ringling communications staff as needed. Plans for and initiates direct activities with prospects that are designed to enhance the affiliation between the prospect and the Ringling/University. Negotiates gift agreements, prepares and presents proposals. Prepares correspondence with prospects and documents communications, solicitation activity and gift information in compliance with Foundation reporting guidelines. Creates, inspires and maintains donor loyalty, interest and enthusiasm through stewardship communication and activities designed to express recognition, appreciation and the impact of their gift(s). Implementation of such a stewardship plan may include, but should not be limited to: letters; communication of unit or university initiatives; invitations to appropriate activities, meetings, events, student engagement; or the facilitation of campus visits. Protects confidential information. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Volunteer Council/Board Management
Assists in the management of all volunteer boards associated with the Ringling Center.
Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience in gift development in a not-for-profit, arts, museum, university, or related setting; or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of experience in the same. (Note: post-high school education will substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
Demonstrated, progressive experience in seeking financial support for multi-million dollar programs or initiatives.
Excellent communication skills to include effective and persuasive writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
Ability to facilitate strong communications with colleagues, donors, prospective donors, members and alumni, including letters, surveys and telephone solicitation program.
Ability to maintain consistent and constructive communication with the Foundation.
Must possess a passion for the arts.
Must be a self-starter, comfortable working independently.
Must be a creative thinker and recognize the impact of meaningful stewardship.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, and pay careful attention to detail.
Ability and willingness to travel and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word or equivalent software.
A valid State of Florida Driver's License or the ability to obtain.
Advanced degree preferred.
General knowledge of the Sarasota philanthropic community.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
