Job Position: Weekend Site Staff
Hours: 9:30am-5:30pm Saturday and Sunday
Pay: $10 per hour

Full Job Description: The primary function of the Site Staff is to provide a pleasant, enjoyable, and safe tour experience for the guest while interpreting history and nature at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum.

Duties & Responsibilities
Primary: Perform site support activities especially including top and base of lighthouse tower duties
 Provide a safe experience at the top of the lighthouse
 Learn & conduct guided tours following current docent manual. Accurately share a brief history of the Lighthouse, Keepers Workshop, Tindall Pioneer Home, Seminole Indian Chickee, and Lighthouse grounds. Climb to the top of the Lighthouse and down again with your group (or groups) multiple times per day
 Learn & conduct tours with special educational topics for student groups, which may focus on the Lighthouse or Maritime History, Pioneer History or Native American History
 Responsible for assemblage of tour groups on the porch, keeping group together on pathways and permissible areas while on tour and supervise group at all times
 Inform any visitors of rules and regulations
 Encourage visitors to visit gift shop and museum
 Report any problems to tour manager/ supervisor immediately
 Pick up and return radios and keys to proper location
 Completion of new docent training & Continuing education sessions as required
 Responsible for safety procedures in the tower and on site

Cross Train to Assist With Museum Information desk:
 Greet visitors cheerfully, check for admission sticker,
 Informs guests about no photography/ food-drink policy
 Instruct visitors on exhibit layout, video room, email calendar sign ups and visitor surveys
 Periodically check the exhibits areas for cleanliness and safety & report problems

 Enthusiasm for history and museum education.
  o Higher education in History, Museums or Education a plus
 Previous tour guide, museum docent or attractions experience preferred
 Must have transportation to and from work
 Ability to primarily work weekends, alternate days, evenings or special events as needed
 Bi-lingual preferred Skills & Abilities
 Ability to climb the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, up to 156 feet from ground level, numerous times per day
 Must possess good oral communication & public speaking skills  Politeness & excellent customer service
 Able to handle emergency situations with calm authority  Must be able to sit and remain alert for a minimum of 4 hours up to 10 hours.
 Must be able to spend time standing, and walking, and on surfaces such as concrete, wood, metal, as well as slippery and wet surfaces
 Must be able to perform duties requiring bending at the neck, waist, shoulders, twisting and rotating hands, elbows and forearms; frequent squatting and crouching
 Interact well with others in a team environment
 Ability to follow instructions and take direction by various means of communication such as phone, two way radio and computer
 Ability to read and write in English, and perform basic mathematical calculations to accurately complete paperwork
 Excellent time management & punctuality
 Professionalism in manner and appearance
 Dependability and flexibility  Ability to enforce the site’s policies
 Willingness to follow direction
 Ability to cross train in Museum front desk and Gift Shop Visitor Service counter
