ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) with Graphicstudio (GS) and the Public Art Program compose the Institute for Research in Art. CAM organizes, presents, commissions and travels exhibitions, commissions public art projects, and manages a collection with a focus on contemporary works on paper. CAM researches and strives to identify and work with artists that can stimulate and shape cultural debate in our community and beyond, and actively engages audiences in educational programs including lectures, symposia, workshops, and community-based projects.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Exhibition Designer collaborates with visiting national and international artists, curators, and other staff members on the design of temporary exhibitions for the Contemporary Art Museum. These exhibitions can be in the Contemporary Art Museum Gallery spaces, other buildings on the USF campuses, or in other buildings off campus as part of the museum’s corporate partnership program. The Exhibition Designer also coordinates with the Curator of the Collection on issues of facility and collection storage conditions. This position interprets and works with Museum and University administration to implement current USF policies and AAM accreditation standards to ensure best practices for effective management of the museum facility and operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the planning and installation of museum exhibitions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Exhibition Designer must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials. Must be able to climb, balance, reach overhead, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to equipment. Requires safe operation of a variety of shop equipment and power tools. Will occasionally be exposed to noise and vibration from operating machinery. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. May be required to work in confined areas to access equipment. The majority of this position requires working on-site.
