St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is a mission based non-profit, grant seeking organization. The Museum is seeking a talented and qualified Executive Assistant. Successful candidates must possess superior verbal and written communication skills; excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational skills with precise attention to detail, flexible, high degree of competency in the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and the ability to learn new applications quickly, a positive attitude, and high motivation!

The Education & Programs Manager’s role is to continuously advance the exhibitions, education, and programs and establish deep connections between the Museum, its non-profit Mission, and the Community. The EPM develops, implements and evaluates museum programs with a vision for inclusiveness and accessible ways for our museum visitors. In addition, the EPM works to secure a sustainable future that includes increasing revenue, promoting visitor experience and education, and creating long-term sustainability. Supports the strategy, goals, and plans of the Organization and Collections & Interpretive Division. This position works with the Manager of Interpretation and other departments to design and implement educational programs and exhibits for the benefit of the whole organization.

Major Responsibilities:
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
• Cultivate a rich Museum experience by collaborating with Interpretive staff and other departments to envision educational programs related to museum exhibits and collections.
• Evaluate existing and develop new K-12 programs for onsite school programs that align with current state and AAM standards. Consider other educational program opportunities, such as outreach, online programs, and lectures to benefit the public.
• Coordinate, schedule, and lead majority group tour visits, including field trips and educator-led programs. Maintain relationships with local schools, organizations, and tour companies.
• Develop and manage Summer, Winter, and Spring Camp programs. Is the lead administrator for teachers, camp counselors, parents, and campers. Develops educational and memorable experiences for students. Solicits feedback and reports metrics for community impact.
• Coordinates with Operations & Marketing for the onsite program setup and promotional needs. Coordinates with Development team for funding support, and camp scholarships.
• Communicates program information, training, and detail to staff, volunteers, and the public.
• Required to perform site support activities, including tower and base shifts (2.5 hours), site events, and specialty tours.
• Evaluate education programs utilizing standard museum methods.
• Scheduled occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional Skills and Attributes:
• Demonstrates professionalism and communication in working with staff, volunteers, adults, and children. Is engaging and has public speaking skills.
• Knowledge of professional museum education theory, methodology and resources.
• Knowledge of the learning characteristics of museum audiences, and technology trends.
• Knowledge of the objectives, curricula and educational institutions.
• Outstanding interpersonal and administrative skills are required. Enjoys working with children.
• Teamwork: Identify points for collaboration with co-workers; readily offer and request assistance.
• Shows a passion for the mission.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in education, museum studies, history, public history, or a related field. Minimum of five years of experience working in a museum or educational setting with increasing responsibility required. Relevant experiences in leading program development, implementing behavioral strategies and project management. Must demonstrate proficiency with MS Office products, including Word and Excel. Possess general knowledge of data management best practices and operating a Point of Sale system regularly. Ability to problem solve under pressure, work independently, manage multiple projects effectively, and meet deadlines.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:
The duties above indicate the essential functions of the job. Physical requirements are those present in normal office and Summer Camp environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, and a moderate amount of business travel is required. Must be able to climb the lighthouse tower, stand for periods up to 2.5 – 3 hours, and perform required duties outdoors in varied weather conditions. Moderate lifting of inventory of 25 pounds will be required. CPR training to be furnished at the organization’s expense. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as regular daily work hours to meet the organization’s needs.
