NATURE OF WORK
The incumbent in this position will fulfill an assistant position in of the Oral History Program within the Collections Division at the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum. The Assistant will work in the Research Division to conduct interviews and manage the Oral History Collection, in service to the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Management of the collection shall include recording, editing cataloging, digitization, archival storage and accessibility measures. The incumbent provides resources that contribute to the Museum’s research, publications, exhibitions and accessibility initiatives. The Assistant participates in community and Museum events as needed. This position reports to the Research Manager and is a non-exempt position. • Fulfills requests from the Seminole community, its government, the Museum and other associated departments.
• Helps to ensure that the Museum’s Oral History Program intersects with the Seminole community in a culturally appropriate way.
• Arranges and records audio and video interviews to enhance the existing collection and provides support for upcoming programs, research and exhibitions. Catalogs and digitizes audiovisual media according to established archival methods. Conforms to Museum policies in order to provide appropriate access of oral history resources.
• Produces written reports, articles, social media contributions and other materials as necessary for the operations of the Collections Division and the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum.
• Processes audio and video using archival methods. Manages related accession paperwork appropriately. Provides access to assets in accordance with legally binding agreements.
• Participates in community events. Fosters community relations by representing the Museum at such events. Relates event activities to the Oral History Program by design and actualization.
• Assists with Museum’s tours and on-site programs as required.
• Assists in the preparation of annual budget and monitors expenses.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings. Participates in the strategic planning process.
• Adheres to all Seminole Tribe of Florida’s policies and procedures.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.

• Interest in the Seminole Tribe history, culture and operations.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn the use of computer equipment and software required for the position.

• Ability to effectively and professionally represent Museum to potential collaborative partners.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Ability to help preserve the Seminole Tribe’s oral tradition within the Museum department as is culturally appropriate. Bachelor’s Degree in history, anthropology or related field, with specialization in oral history is preferred. Master’s Degree in history, anthropology or related field preferred. Knowledge of or willingness to learn various digital recording and editing media is required. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, PastPerfect, and social networking formats is preferred. Must demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills including verbal and written communications. Ability to travel and work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is typically sedentary. The candidate may sit comfortably to do the work; there may be occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, such as books, papers; may drive a company vehicle. There will be occasions where the candidate is required to carry media equipment and operate in abnormal conditions (outside, in people’s houses, in public spaces, etc.). No extraordinary special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a clean, air-conditioned office area, with little noise.
