GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
Assists in developing and implementing diverse programs and daily activities (recreation; senior programs/therapeutic recreation; and/or wellness, fitness & athletics) for all ages.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Welcomes visitors and answers visitor questions and inquiries. Notifies visitor of activity schedules and registration requirements.
2. Facilitates/leads programs and daily activities. Monitors spectators and participants at programs and activities to ensure orderly conduct. Keeps attendance, inventory, and expenditure records for programs and activities.
3. Receives, stores, and equipment, gear, and other recreational supplies. Cleans and maintains equipment, gear, and other recreational supplies.
4. Assists in the evaluation of programs and makes recommendations for modifications and improvements.
5. Conducts basic maintenance tasks at a community center or other recreation facilities.
6. Arranges chairs, tables, and sporting or exercise equipment in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled group activities such as banquets, wedding receptions, parties, group meetings, or sports events.
7. Markets programs, events, and activities through contacts, individuals, businesses, and organizations to obtain sponsors and funding to supplement the General Budget. Networks with outside agencies, committees, boards, and related organizations to establish contacts with the community.
8. Provides support for department special events before, during, and after the event in the areas and for functions relative to essential job duties and/or otherwise assigned.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent to four years high school, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines.
