About the Speakers
Susan Carter is a museum professional with several decades of experience in collections management and exhibition preparation. Currently serving as the Curator of Collections and Registrar at the Henry B. Plant Museum, she oversees and manages all aspects of the artifact collections, changing and permanent galleries and exhibitions ensuring safe handling and preservation. She holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of South Florida and completed Collections Management courses at the Smithsonian Institute. She is a member of ARCS, SFA, FAM, and AIC and has a passion for historic preservation.
Amanda Hoffman is a museum professional with expertise in interpretation, audience engagement, and creative programming. She serves as Director of Education at the Tampa Bay History Center, where she creates engaging learning experiences that connect audiences with local history. Amanda holds an Master of Letters (M.Litt.) in Museum Studies from the University of Aberdeen and a B.A. in History. She is passionate about storytelling and making history accessible, engaging, and relevant.
Holden Rasmussen is the archivist and company historian for the J.C. Newman Cigar Co. He received a Master of Arts in the global history of commodities from the University of South Florida. Holden works with Florida history as well from the Johns Committee to Urban Renewal in the middle of the 20th century. At J.C. Newman Cigar Co., Holden coordinates all public history and guest experiences for America’s last operating cigar company.
