POSITION TITLE:      Family & Youth Programs Manager
SUPERVISED BY:     Director of Education

As a team member of the Education Department, the Family & Youth Programs Manager creates and implements programmatic experiences that engage youth and families in concert with the Museum’s goals and Education Department’s philosophy. The Family & Youth Programs Manager designs, implements (including teaching and staffing), and evaluates a broad range of innovative and multigenerational educational initiatives.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, highly motivated, organized individual with a passion for delivering quality educational diverse visual arts programs; demonstrates the ability to think creativity and strategically to engage family and student audiences; possesses excellent communication skills; maintains high energy with a strong work ethic; and performs under pressure to meet deadlines.


  • Develops new relationships and maintains established relationships with area cultural and community entities, especially in Palm Beach County. Collaborates with entities to provide programs that illustrate the museum as an active community resource.
  • Coordinates the design, delivery, staffing, and evaluation of on-site (museum and art school) and off-site programs for youth and multi-generational visitors practicing established education standards and program design methods. Educational programs may include museum gallery activities, classes/workshops, camps, festivals, and other programs for youth and families.
  • Teaches programs, supervises contractual teachers, and manages budget.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of assessment tools to evaluate programs.
  • Collaborates cross-departmentally to design, deliver, and promote quality programs and activities.
  • Participates in museum and art school events such as exhibition openings, volunteer appreciation gatherings, special community days, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Sociology, or related subject required
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience with the development and implementation of educational programming in art centers/museums/schools, including community initiatives, teaching/training, and program design required
  • Knowledge of current education practices, visitor experience theories, and state/national education standards; including the whole child approach, fostering youth voice and positive youth development, experiential teaching practices, family engagement strategies, and multigenerational learning
  • Experience in building relationships and creating collaborative programs preferred
  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; experience with Ticketure preferred
  • Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills required with attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and maintain friendly and courteous relationships with the staff, board, cultural partners, and customers
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule of hours that will include most weekends and some evenings
  • Familiarity with Palm Beach County preferred

  • Mainly move around the buildings/classroom spaces; reach, lift, carry, and manipulate various materials, supplies, and light equipment
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors
  • Be knowledgeable with the use of and the requirement to wear protective gear when appropriate (PPE will be assigned as needed)
  • Be able to function independently
  • Be in good general health
  • Work requires continuous activity
  • Work requires weekends and occasionally may include extended hours

40 hours per week, Wednesday-Sunday, FT Exempt/Salaried, Full Benefits
