Schedule:        Full-time

Supervisor:     Director of Advancement

Salary Range:  $34,000 - $37,000 annually

Job Summary:  The Marketing Manager is a key member of the staff who is responsible for managing the institution’s general communications functions, including marketing and public relations, for the purpose of increasing public awareness of the institution and participation in its activities.      


  • With input from senior leadership and/or the marketing committee, develop and implement an annual marketing plan including advertising, media relations, onsite signage, and more, including, but not limited to:
    • Advertisements
    • Media relations
    • Online resources - website management and social media management
    • Electronic resources (e-newsletter)
    • Printed materials (brochures, flyers, etc.)
    • Wayfinding and site signage (directional and informational signs)
  • Design and create collateral including advertisements, newsletters, brochures, posters, banners, and more.
  • Work with the curatorial team to design and create exhibition graphics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential publicity resources like publishers, editors, reporters and bloggers, to enhance and expand media coverage of the institution and to ensure accurate institutional information on other websites.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential marketing partners like printers, photographers, videographers and event suppliers to negotiate discounted or in-kind products and services that will result in cost savings.
  • Collaborate with all staff for marketing/publicity needs of all projects and activities, and ensure brand standards.
  • Train and supervise interns to assist with marketing functions.
  • Oversee marketing budget accounts.
  • Maintain all physical files, digital files and databases of the marketing functions.
  • Complete additional duties, as assigned by the Director of Advancement.


Work & Educational Experience

  • Experience with marketing and public relations initiatives and methods.
  • Strong design skills, with a portfolio available for review.
  • Knowledge of paid vs organic growth strategies.
  • Experience with social media management.
  • Knowledge of printing and production process is desired.
  • Demonstrated success in working with DEI marketing initiatives is desired.
  • At least five (5) years related professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field, or a combination of experience and education.

Software Proficiency

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is required.
  • Experience with social media calendar management tools like Hootsuite, Later, or SproutSocial.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Wordpress or other site management software is desired, basic HTML knowledge is a plus.
  • A strong command of basic professional programs like Google suite (Gmail, Google Drive) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and Adwords is desired.

  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proven project-management skills with the ability to achieve results with nominal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to oversee the work of interns.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a timely fashion to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve results, especially the members of the media and marketing partners.
  • Spanish language written skills are desired.
  • Must be available for a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
