Title: Out-of-School-Time (OST) Coordinator (updated as of 11-29-21)
Type: Part-time during school year 10+ hours a week / Possibility of Full-time schedule during extended school breaks. School year schedule allows flexibility for evening and weekend hours.
Salary: $28,000-$35,000 based on qualifications and experience
Responsible For: Coordinating and supporting out-of-school-time programming and camps
Liaison with: Art and Culture Center/Hollywood (ACCH) administrators and staff, students, parents, teachers, artists, the general public and other organizations
Reports to: Director of Education
Primary Function: Coordinates and helps to plan the Center’s out-of-school-time programming including our arts-based camps and after school programming.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with Director of Education to coordinate schedule and program offerings of out-of-school-time education programs.
Work with the Education team to identify and adapt pre-existing activities and programs for new audiences.
Assist with recruitment, hiring and supervision of qualified teachers, artists, interns, and teaching assistants.
Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with teachers, parents, and guardians.
Work with the Director of Education to help establish and foster connections with schools, families, and communities to promote existing and educational programs and opportunities.
Draft educational text necessary for programming materials and promotion.
Track and record information necessary for reports regarding the status and accomplishments of programs, keeping thorough records of registrations and information using Excel, Google Docs and Google Sheets.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described and as organization needs.
During the school year, Coordinator will work with Director of Education to create their weekly work schedule, which would include a mix of evenings and weekend daytime hours for 12-35* hours a week, based on time of year and the Coordinator’s schedule and availability. The position can become full-time for the summer months in accordance with our Summer Arts Camp schedule.
Candidate must possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree or more than half way through a program for their Bachelor’s degree in education (formal or informal), visual arts, art history, performing arts or other related field and a minimum of two years of experience working and/or interacting closely with children (ages 3-16). Additional experience in camp-based programming, theater and/or instructional supervision, a plus. Some amount of informal teaching experience is recommended, with priority given to those who have taught to a wide breadth of ages/diverse audiences. The candidate will work directly with children and families, so a strong sense of initiative, commitment, responsibility, dependability, compassion, flexibility, and creativity is required. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed and adaptable. Exceptional communication, problem solving, attention to detail and diplomacy skills required. Top-notch organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public is necessary. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs (assist with setting up tables and chairs, etc.). Level 2 background check and Department of Children and Families clearance is required.
