Job Summary:
Provides historical interpretation to visitors, guests, and tour groups of the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum based on the mission statement to ensure accurate interpretation of the maritime history. Primarily performs site shifts, tours/demos, and assists the interpretation team as needed.

Major Responsibilities:
• Primarily works base and tower shifts of the lighthouse as scheduled.
• Leads educational tours and programs/demos for the public as scheduled.
• Assist Exhibit Preparator with staff and volunteer site training
• Interprets real objects and ideas for the museum’s visitors, including individuals, family groups, and tour
groups. All interpretations will be based on the Museum’s mission statement.
• Works as a team with other departments, including department heads, peers, and volunteers.
• Provides excellent customer care and service to all SAL&M guests and visitors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
AA Degree required Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited institution or experience in a customer facing role is required. A minimum of two years of prior experience in museums, education, or related experience is preferred. Must have excellent customer service, public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, and basic leadership abilities. Analytical and decision-making skills are desired. Good computer skills are necessary.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:
The duties above indicate the essential functions of the job. Must be able to climb the lighthouse tower and perform required duties for periods of 2.5 hours in Florida’s weather conditions two to three times a day. This position works primarily outdoors. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs. Must be flexible with work schedule and available to work weekends and holidays.
