The Keys History & Discovery Center is a world-class museum that preserves and shares the incredible
history of our Upper Keys community and explores the unique ecology of the region. In addition to
permanent exhibits on subjects such as Henry Flagler’s Over-Sea Railway, Legends of the Line, and First
People, the Discovery Center offers a lecture series, educating the public through presentations from a
variety of expert speakers. The museum’s second floor features a state-of-the-art theater showing
documentaries on topics like the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane and Indian Key, as well as traveling
exhibits, and the Jerry Wilkinson Research Library.
Presentations –
• Responsible for developing and presenting historical presentations on behalf of the museum for
internal and community gatherings
• Provides tours of the facility for educational institutions and private groups
• Creates content for live streams from the museum or relevant other location on a regular basis.
Content will be historical in nature and will include relevant museum events and news
• Coordinates A/V for lectures and programs
Media Relations –
• Prepares monthly email newsletter
• Responsible for media releases and promotion of the organization across traditional and new
outlets
• Manages program to capture oral histories at regular intervals from the community and special
guests
• Develops and maintains relationships with outside media
Traveling Exhibits –
• Assists with scheduling of opening receptions and other opportunities for promotion
• Coordinates with staff and committees to prepare and distribute materials to promote exhibits
Programs –
• Plans and executes programming including scheduling of speaking opportunities and group tours
• Works collaboratively with Director to select, schedule, and organize plans for speaker stays during
Lecture Series
• Develops written materials for educational programs and community outreach
• Seeks out new ideas for exhibits, lectures, presentations, and programs to promote the Discovery
Center
• Maintains organization calendar for group tours and/or facility rentals
• Develops new educational materials that meet curriculum standards of various age group that can
be offered to schools
